To support state and local energy security planning and response, the National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO), in partnership with the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), will conduct an Energy Security and Data Analysis Workshop on December 2-3, 2019, at the Hilton Washington DC National Mall (located at 480 L’Enfant Plaza SW, Washington, DC 20024).
The workshop is being supported by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER) and is intended to build state and local government capacity to attain, interpret, and make decisions based on relevant open and closed-source energy emergency data. Data is a critical component of preparing for and responding to energy emergencies. It is therefore critical for state energy officials to understand not only where and how to obtain data, but also how data analysis can provide actionable information. The 1.5-day workshop will provide an overview of available data, a hands-on session on using data and data analysis to inform decision-making, and how to protect critical infrastructure information in energy emergencies.
State and local energy officials, emergency managers, homeland security directors, utility commissioners, legislators, and governors’ energy advisors are invited to attend from across the United States. The workshop will also involve key federal and industry partners from the electric, natural gas, and oil sectors, including energy suppliers, trade associations, and federal agencies. State energy officials will gain an understanding of available data resources and actionable information. Participants will leave with a comprehensive overview of available data and potential applications and analysis, thus contributing to a more robust and faster state response to energy emergencies.
There is no registration fee. However, if you plan to attend, you must register online by Monday, November 25, 2019.
