Washington Clean Energy Fund Awards 10 Innovative Research, Development, and Demonstration Projects

The Washington State Department of Commerce has announced over $8.2 million in grants from the state’s Clean Energy Fund to 10 proposed projects that will support research, development and deployment of renewable energy technologies in Washington.

The selected projects cover a wide range of technology innovations, including the state’s first commercial insect farm, bio-derived plastics, wave energy conversion, composites manufacturing, and building management and control systems, among others.

Established by Governor Jay Inslee and the Washington Legislature in 2013, the Clean Energy Fund is overseen by the Washington State Energy Office and provides grants for projects that save energy, reduce energy costs, reduce harmful emissions and increase energy independence for the state.
