NASEO, EFI Release Clean Energy Workforce Assessment for City of Minneapolis

Using data collected by BW Research Partnership for the 2019 U.S. Energy and Employment Report, NASEO partnered with Energy Futures Initiative, the Minneapolis Offices of Sustainability and Community Planning and Economic Development, and other key stakeholders to examine current and future careers and occupations in the energy efficiency and renewable electricity fields in the City.

Key findings of the assessment include:

  • Opportunities for equitable growth in Minneapolis’s clean energy economy;
  • The need to scale-up the size of the clean energy workforce as well as clean energy investment as the City pursues its 100% Renewable Electricity goals;
  • The need for co-investment across multiple stakeholders;
  • The need for training and education to achieve family-sustaining wages and career advancement in clean energy; and
  • Opportunities to better connect training programs and offerings.
