NASEO Chair Co-authors Op-ed on Energy Efficiency and Housing Affordability

On October 15, Utility Dive published “Energy efficiency helps housing affordability, especially for low-income families,” an opinion piece co-authored by Maria Stamas, Western Director for Energy Affordability of the Natural Resources Defense Council, and Andrew McAllister, a Commissioner of the California Energy Commission and NASEO’s Board Chair.

McAllister and Stamas’s op-ed focuses on a recent report, Plugging Into Savings: California’s Huge Potential for Cost-Effective Energy Savings in Low-Income Multifamily Housing. Published by Energy Efficiency for All, a multi-state initiative dedicated to advancing energy and water efficiency in multifamily housing, the report examines the potential for cost-effective multifamily energy efficiency investments to save California ratepayers hundreds of millions of dollars, reduce energy burdens, and promote tenant health, comfort, and safety.
