The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will be partnering with New Jersey Transit and the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (the energy office) to develop an advanced microgrid system. The Sandia National Laboratory will be assisting NJ Transit on the research to identify methods for increasing reliability and resiliency of the electricity used for rail systems.
