Energy Assurance and Interdependency Workshop

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability (OE), in coordination with NASEO, recently conducted the Energy Assurance and Interdependency Workshop on December 2-3, 2013, at the Fairmont Hotel in Washington, DC. 

The workshop was intended to inform and educate participants on interconnected energy systems and their cascading impacts on other critical infrastructure and essential services (transportation, water, food, finance, emergency services, telecommunications, etc,) following an event.  The workshop featured a variety of threat scenarios and vignettes and their immediate and long-term effects.  Industry owners and operators presented  to provide an overview of systems operations.  In addition, state and local governments evaluated their energy emergency preparedness and  energy assurance plans.
