GAO Releases Report Reviewing Electricity Supplier Actions to Protect Against Electromagnetic Pulses

The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) recently released a report reviewing electricity industry actions to prepare for and mitigate electromagnetic risks. The report examines what actions U.S. and Canadian electricity suppliers have taken to collect information about the effects of geomagnetic disturbances and high-altitude electromagnetic pulses on the grid, steps taken to protect against both, and the what cost recovery opportunities which exist for U.S. suppliers.
