President Trump Appoints SSEB Federal Representative

On October 24, the Trump Administration announced that former Arkansas Senator Eddie Joe Williams will serve as Federal Representative for the Southern States Energy Board. Williams was officially sworn in on November 15, and will begin his official duties immediately.

The SSEB Federal Representative is appointed by the President. The appointee interfaces with the Governors, key state officials, the Congress, and Federal Agencies on matters of energy and environment critical to SSEB's region of 16 states and two territories.

Previously, Williams served as a member of the Board for more than six years and was a member of the Board's Executive Committee. He was elected as an Arkansas senator in 2010 and has worked with SSEB for most of his tenure.

"I have mixed feelings about this new chapter in my life," Williams said. "While I'm excited about making a difference in national energy policy, I'm truly going to miss the people I represent in the Senate. It has been a privilege, on a daily basis, to discuss issues with constituents and interact with them."

Ken Nemeth, SSEB's Secretary and Executive Director, said, "We are thrilled to have Williams in the position of Federal Representative. He has been a very active member of the Board and understands the complex energy and environmental issues impacting our region. I know his dedication to representing the Trump Administration before our members will serve the President and the southern region well."
