NASEO Testifies at U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee Hearing

On Wednesday, May 3, 2017, Dub Taylor, NASEO Treasurer and Director of the Texas State Energy Conservation Office, testified on behalf of NASEO before the U.S. House Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee hearing on FY’18 appropriations.  In delivering NASEO’s testimony, Mr. Taylor stressed the importance of funding for the U.S. State Energy Program (SEP) and the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP).  He highlighted Texas’ use of SEP funding to leverage private resources in advancing energy related economic development, as well as the role of states in addressing energy emergency preparedness and response.  The testimony asked Congress to ensure all SEP funds are delivered to the states through formula grants, and to direct the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to end DOE’s discretionary competitive program.  In addition, NASEO provided written testimony from both Mr. Taylor and NASEO’s Executive Director, David Terry.  A video of the hearing is now available, in addition to Mr. Taylor’s oral statement before the committee, as well as NASEO’s written testimony.
