This session will provide a forum for State Energy Office directors to:

  1. Describe the current focus of SEO (size, priorities, etc.),
  2. Exchange successful practices in his/her agency,
  3. Share one key lesson learned in operating energy efficiency programs,
  4. Share one key lesson learned in operating renewable energy programs,
  5. Share what about being an SEO director he/she likes best, and
  6. Identify state and regional needs that NASEO can support.

(Ten minutes each for IL, IN, MI, MN, MO, OH, and WI plus questions)

Discussion of a proposal for a coordinated Midwest program to provide Technical Assistance on energy efficiency and renewables to mid-size to small manufacturers and suppliers and other ideas or suggestions.

Long Term Energy Outlook: U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) and an examination of Midwest energy use and issues, and Energy Assurance Planning.

State Energy Program - Closeout and Future Challenges
This session will focus on the State Energy program, and topics such as:

  1. ARRA closeout issues
  2. EM&V
  3. Future directions and focuses for SEP
  4. Discrepancies between US DOE and Midwest SEOs regarding available categorical grant balances
  5. Challenges regarding FY 13 funding,
  6. Potential supplemental funding sources for Midwest SEOs, including
    • Partnerships with other federal agencies such as EPA, Ag,
    • Regional foundations, and
    • Certain military operations.

This session will allow time for the Midwest States to conduct any outstanding regional business or discuss other topics of interest. Possible topics include EA, comprehensive, strategic energy planning, utility and SEO linkages, multi-state efforts, and opportunities for regional SEO coordination or collaboration in the Midwest. Topics for State presentations during regional monthly conference calls will be identified. Session will conclude with a review of action items that have been agreed to and officials assigned to each.
